Long Island Marathon 2014: Everything you need to know

It's the much-anticipated Long Island Marathon weekend. Here's what you need to know before you go, while you're there and even if you're trying to avoid it:

RACES

Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K: 8 a.m. start at Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale near the Nassau Coliseum.

PARKING

The closest spot to park near the finish line is inside Eisenhower Park. Participants are advised to arrive before 7 a.m. to avoid delays due to road closures. Use the Hempstead Turnpike entrance and look for public safety officers, who will direct you to available spots.

LIRR

The Westbury station is the closest Long Island Rail Road stop to the races.

SECURITY

Only registered runners with their bibs are permitted in the starting area on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard.

Spectators may not bring bags to the finish line area in Eisenhower Park, and runners must use the clear bags provided at check-in.

ROAD CLOSURES

On Sunday, the closures are:

Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, 7:15 to 9:30 a.m. The stretch from Merrick Avenue to James Dolittle Boulevard will close at 5 a.m.

Merrick Avenue north of Hempstead Turnpike, 7:30 to 9:45 a.m.

Old Country Road from Post Avenue to School Street, and School Street from Old Country Road to Railroad Avenue, 7:40 to 10 a.m.

Salisbury Park Drive and Post Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Jericho Turnpike, 7:50 to 10:30 a.m.

Railroad Avenue, 7:50 to 10 a.m.

Jericho Turnpike eastbound from Post Avenue to Brush Hollow Road, 7:50 to 11 a.m.

Brush Hollow Road (south of Wantagh Parkway stays open), 7:50 to 11:30 a.m.

Carman Avenue from Old Country Road to Nottingham Road, 7:50 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wantagh Parkway, 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Northern State Parkway exits to Post Avenue and Wantagh Parkway will open after 3 p.m.

The Meadowbrook Parkway exits and entrances to and from Charles Lindbergh Boulevard and Eisenhower Park exits will be closed, 5 to 10 a.m.

Eisenhower Park's Boulevard will not allow through traffic from 8 to 10 a.m., but the Hempstead Turnpike entrance is open all day.

WEATHER

Sunday

Meteorologists say the Uniondale area will be mostly sunny with a high near 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast includes scattered showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation.

Brush Hollow Road, Westbury: Mile mark 8
Old Country Road and Wantagh Parkway: Mile mark 10
