Man killed trying to cross the LIE in Ronkonkoma

Eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway between exit 60 and 62 have reopened after a man who was attempting to cross the LIE was killed when he was hit by a car Tuesday night, police said.
Police said the man was trying to cross the expressway in Ronkonkoma near exit 60. He was stopped on the highway because his car had become disabled.
The call about the accident came in at 7:52 p.m., police said. Eastbound lanes were closed for almost four hours after the incident.
