Mild wind conditions across Long Island waters linger through the weekend, the National Weather Service said in its marine report.

The service's Upton office said there is "low potential for a few gusts to 25 knots" Friday afternoon and evening "over waters between Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and Fire Island."

Mostly, marginal small craft advisory conditions are possible on ocean waters east of Fire Island Inlet, the service said.

Some increase in southwesterly flow occurs Saturday and into the overnight hours, but then a lack of a strong pressure gradient/winds will likely result in an extended period of "sub small craft advisory conditions" Sunday through Tuesday.

Friday's inland weather forecast for Long Island calls for mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s. There also is a slight chance for afternoon showers.
