A Copiague man and a Lindenhurst teen are facing charges that they fired two shots from a shotgun in a field area of Cedar Creek Park in Seaford early Saturday, Nassau County police said.
No one was injured and no damage was reported, police said.
Officers from Nassau's Seventh Precinct received calls about 12:30 a.m. that shots had been fired in the vicinity of Island Channel Road and that a black Jeep was seen fleeing the scene.
Police found the Jeep traveling east on Merrick Road from Neptune Avenue. Officers searched the vehicle, finding a black shotgun on the rear seat of the car, police said. Shotgun shells were also found on the floor of the front passenger side of the vehicle, police said.
Nicholas Richtman, 21, of Baylawn Avenue in Copiague, and William Raynor, 17, of Piave Terrace in Lindenhurst, were arrested without incident on charges of prohibited use of a weapon and trespassing.
They were issued an appearance ticket and are due to appear May 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
