The accident occurred on Newbridge Road, just south of Hempstead Turnpike, with all three vehicles traveling in the southbound lane, said E.J. Brennan, fire department spokesman.

Nassau police said the accident occurred at 2:47 p.m.

Students on the buses from Holy Trinity High School were taken to Nassau University Medical Center, and those in the car were taken to Winthrop-University Hospital, he said.

Brennan said 14 students were taken to NUMC. A hospital spokeswoman said "two additional came in with their parents for evaluation. It appears all will be discharged after evaluation."
