3 held in gunpoint carjacking in Hempstead
Three men approached a driver who had slowed in traffic early Wednesday morning in Hempstead, pulled him from his car at gunpoint, punched him, kicked him, robbed him and carjacked him -- only to be arrested a short time later, according to police.
The incident occurred on Maple Avenue in Hempstead at about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday.
