Five men, three of them teens, were arrested and charged with robbery after they attacked two men on a street in Roosevelt on Sunday following an exchange of words, Nassau County police said.

One victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered a swollen left eye and a contusion, but declined medical attention. The other man, a 23-year-old, was not injured, according to police.

Police said the attack occurred on Newton Place at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

It was then, police said, that the 25-year-old victim "exchanged words" with the group, and those five defendants then "punched and kicked" the man, knocking him to the ground. The victim's friend tried to intervene, police said, but was also attacked.

The suspects then stole cash from the first man -- and fled.

Arrested were Wesley Reyes, 20, of 27 Lincoln Ave. Roosevelt; Abdul Robinson, 21, of 91 Melvin Ave., West Hempstead; Brian Marshall, 17, of 120 Kingston Ave., South Floral Park; Leshont Rodney-Saunders, 18, of 43 Harts Ave., Roosevelt; and Jeffrey Lee, 18, of 79 Allers Blvd., Roosevelt. All five were charged with second-degree robbery, according to police.

Police said the five face arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
