Cops: North Massapequa man set own vehicle on fire

A North Massapequa man faces arson charges for setting his own vehicle on fire, Nassau County police said Thursday.

Anastassios Poukamisas, 20, of 240 N. Virginia Ave., is charged with third- and fourth-degree arson and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

He was arrested Wednesday at his home.

Nassau's Arson Bomb Squad responded to Poukamisas' home at about 7 p.m. on May 1 for a report of a vehicle fire in the driveway, police said.

The fire destroyed the vehicle and set fire to the home, police said. There were no injuries.

After an investigation, it was determined that Poukamisas had set fire to his vehicle, police said.
