A man driving in Woodbury early Thursday pulled into a parking lot when his car caught fire, only to see the fire spread to nine other cars in the lot, Nassau County police said.

Three of the cars appeared to be seriously damaged or overwhelmed by the flames, a police spokesman said. There were no injuries.

The driver, a man, 40, was operating a 2000 Pontiac when he pulled into a lot at 135 Crossways Park Dr. at about 8:52 a.m., police said.

He saw flames coming from under the hood, and when he lifted the hood the flames spread to the other vehicles, police said.

The Syosset Fire Department responded to extinguish the fires, police said.

Investigators from Nassau County fire marshal's office also responded to the scene, and the fire is not considered suspicious, police said.
