Cats seized from Westbury home; woman charged

Valerie Varnuska of Westbury was arrested and charged with animal cruelty on May 14, 2014, after a search warrant was executed at her Middlecamp Road home, Nassau officials said. Twenty-four cats, many of them in poor health, were rescued by the North Shore Animal League and the home was declared unfit for habitation and condemned, officials said.
