Census: NY and especially LI spend more per student
New York State continues to spend more per public school student than any other state in the nation, at nearly $16,000 - though the average spending on Long Island is far higher - according to 2007 data released Monday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
New York spent $15,981 in 2007, the bureau said, followed by New Jersey, which spent $15,691.
