Coast Guardsman permanently relieved of Montauk command
The Coast Guard has upheld the decision to remove James Weber as commander of the Montauk station for conducting unauthorized surf training.
Weber's temporary removal was made permanent Monday following reviews by the 1st Coast Guard District commander in Boston, then headquarters in Washington, said district spokesman Lt. Erik Halvorson.
