A motorist was arrested and his two passengers seriously injured Thursday in a crash that closed eastbound Northern State Parkway in Nassau for five hours, state police said.

The single-car crash happened about 7:30 a.m. between Exit 34, Brush Hollow Road in Jericho, and Exit 35, Route 106/107 in Hicksville, state police said.

Both passengers were taken to the hospital, state police said. No other details were immediately available.

The driver's name and his charges were not immediately released.

All eastbound lanes of the parkway were reopened at 12:38 p.m.
