Two Hicksville men face burglary charges after stealing cellphones from a locker room at Hicksville High School, Nassau County police said Thursday.

Second Precinct officers went to the school at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a call about two men in a locker room going through bags.

When the officers arrived, Karn Chauhan, 19, 202 First St., was identified as one of the men who had taken two cellphones from separate bags, police said.

Police said Chauhan, a former student at the school, had been informed in the past that he was not allowed on school property.

He was arrested at the scene without incident, police said.

During their investigation, the officers determined Joseph Ferguson, 18, 14 Glenbrook Rd., was the other man involved, police said.

Ferguson was identified as a friend of Chauhan. Police on Thursday could not say whether he was a student or former student.

Ferguson was arrested at 11:38 p.m. at his residence.

The cellphones were returned to their owners.

Each man is charged with third-degree burglary.

Chauhan was remanded on bail of $15,000, cash or bond, at his arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead. He is due back in court on Friday.

Ferguson is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
