Cops: 5 attacked, robbed man in New Cassel

Police are searching for five assailants who they said attacked and kicked a man on a street in New Cassel early Saturday morning, stealing a gold chain, medallion and ring.

The attack and robbery took place on Prospect Avenue just after 3 a.m., Nassau County police said. The victim, identified only as a 55-year-old man, was not seriously injured.

Police said the man was walking when the five assailants approached, pushed him to the ground -- and "then kicked the male repeatedly about the body." The five then stole the gold chain, the medallion and a gold pinkie ring, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
