Cops: Alcohol sold to minors in Baldwin, Roosevelt

Four individuals were arrested Friday on charges of selling alcohol to minors in Baldwin and Roosevelt, Nassau County police said in a news release.

Those arrested were:

* Dalwinder S. Grewal, 47, of 11 Clovelly Dr., North Valley Stream, allegedly sold alcohol to a minor while working at the Shamrock Gas Station, 17 Merrick Rd., Baldwin.

* Hasan Albayrak, 45, of 1259 Grand St., Westbury, allegedly sold alcohol to a minor while working at Citgo Gas, 820 Sunrise Hwy., Baldwin.

* Jose R. Cruz, 24, of 380 Front St., Hempstead, allegedly sold alcohol to a minor while working at So Good Deli, 425 Nassau Rd., Roosevelt.

* German A. Marmol Castillo, 44, of 197 Lena Ave., Freeport, allegedly sold alcohol to a minor while working at Christinas Deli, 338 Nassau Rd., Roosevelt.

During the Project 21 undercover initiative, conducted with assistance from the county fire marshal and Hempstead Town's Building Department, an underage agent tried to buy alcohol from 33 businesses in the Nassau County police's First Precinct, police said.

The suspects were released on appearance tickets, police said, charging them with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. They are due in First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 6, 2014.
