Cops: Armed man robs Merrick bank

Nassau police are looking for an armed man who robbed a Merrick bank Friday morning.

Police said the man walked into the Capital One Bank at 2192 Merrick Rd. just after 10 a.m., handed a bank teller a note demanding cash and flashed a black handgun. The teller handed over an unknown amount of money, and the suspect fled on foot north through the parking lot.

Four employees were in the bank, and no one was hurt, police said.

The suspect is described as 30 years old, 6 feet tall, wearing a black headscarf, a tan button-down long sleeved shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and black sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
