A Woodmere man whose bank account was mistakenly credited with more than $11,000 was arrested at his home Thursday after he withdrew the money and failed to pay it back, police said.

Carlos Morales, 44, of Lafayette Place, was charged with grand larceny.

During a five-month period beginning in May 2008 Morales withdrew from his Capital One bank account at a Cedarhurst branch, $11,270 that "did not belong to him," detectives from the Nassau County Crimes Against Property Squad said in a police report.

"A bank teller had erroneously deposited these funds into the defendant's account. Capital One Bank . . . contacted the defendant on numerous occasions asking the defendant to return the funds, but received no response," the report said.

Morales was scheduled for arraignment Friday at First District Court, Hempstead.
