Cops: Cabdriver robbed at gunpoint in Roosevelt; 2 men sought

Nassau County police are searching for two men who robbed a cabdriver with a handgun early Saturday after they were taken to a destination in Roosevelt.

The cab picked up the two suspects about 1 a.m. as they exited the front yard of a home on Willow Street in Hempstead, police said.

After they were taken to a location on West Roosevelt Avenue, one of the suspects put a black handgun to the face of the 48-year-old cabdriver and demanded cash, police said.

The suspects took the victim's wallet and an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the vehicle, police said. They were last seen running into the rear yards of residences on West Roosevelt Avenue between Pennsylvania Avenue and Nassau Road, police said.

The victim, who was not injured, described both suspects as 6 feet tall.

One suspect was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. The other wore a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
