Two North Babylon men robbed a teenager in Massapequa Park at gunpoint after setting up a deal to sell him sneakers, Nassau detectives said early Saturday.

Moleek Smalls, 16, of 100 Erlanger Blvd., and Preshod McCoy, 20, of 43 Essex St., were charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery and criminal use of a firearm after an investigation into the Dec. 8 incident, police said in a news release.

Police said the 16-year-old victim met the duo in their car on Maple Street to conclude a deal for the sneakers, but tried to back out when he saw they were not the same pair he'd negotiated for. When he tried to get out of the car, Smalls pressed a handgun to his neck and demanded money, police said.

The boy escaped but dropped his iPhone in the car, police said. When he returned and asked for it back, Smalls and McCoy refused and fled the scene, police said.

At his arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead, McCoy was ordered held on $50,000 bond, or $25,000 cash bail, according to online court records.

Smalls was arraigned there Dec. 18 and ordered held on $50,000 bond, or $25,000 cash bail, the records show. He is scheduled to return to court Jan. 16.
