A 31-year-old woman was charged with felony drunken driving after being arrested by an officer who stopped her as she fled the scene of an accident in Bellmore that left a man critically injured Friday, Nassau County police said.

Marne Morrison-Hackett, of 2583 Bellmore Ave., was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction, DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree vehicular assault and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicular. Police said Friday that Morrison-Hackett has a previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

The victim has been identified only as a 38-year-old man. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in critical condition, police said.

Police said the victim was crossing Sunrise Highway, south to north, at Rose Place when he was struck at 3:05 a.m. by the 2001 Hyundai Elantra driven by Morrison-Hackett.

Police initially said the driver remained at the scene.

After an investigation, however, it was learned that Morrison-Hackett fled the scene -- but was spotted and stopped by a Seventh Precinct officer responding to the call.
