Terminated by his employer in May, a Rockville Centre man used an unreturned key to gain entrance to the business three weeks later and steal cash from the safe, police said.

Robert Cosme, 22, of 62 Rockaway Ave., was arrested after he surrendered to Nassau County police Third Squad detectives on Thursday.

Police said Cosme was employed as a shift manager at the Pinkberry Yogurt Bar on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, but was terminated in May.

Police said, however, that Cosme failed to return a front door key to the business -- and then used that key to gain entrance to the building just after 1 a.m. on June 13. Police said Cosme then opened a safe, took cash and fled the scene.

It was not clear what led Cosme to surrender to police.

Cosme is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
