Cops: Firefighter injured at Elmont blaze

One firefighter was taken to a hospital after being injured fighting a residential fire in Elmont early Tuesday, police said.

The firefighter from the Elmont Fire Department slipped on a ladder and suffered minor injuries, police said.

Nassau County fire officials said the fire at the home on Joan Court was reported about 9 a.m. They said the fire broke out in a garage attached to the house, but said it was not clear if the home was occupied at the time of the fire.
