Cops: Freeport burglary suspects arrested

Nassau County police say they have arrested two men in connection with a burglary in Freeport on Friday.

Police said a 47-year-old man was gardening in his backyard on Roosevelt Avenue around 2:40 p.m. Friday when he heard someone inside his home. He entered the house and called out several times and heard no reply, but said he heard footsteps. When the victim went back outside the house, he saw two males carrying backpacks running across his front lawn, and then called police.

After getting a description of the suspects, Freeport police later that day arrested Elliott Fortune, 16, of West Pennywood Avenue in Roosevelt, and recovered a Sony video gaming console and a video game, both belonging to the victim.
