A guest at a Carle Place hotel who is doing post-Sandy related work on Long Island was arrested on weapons charges Tuesday morning after he left behind two handguns in a bag in the dining room, police said.

Justin Marco, 40, of Cameron, Mo., "did not have a permit to possess the .40 caliber and .380 caliber handguns," Nassau County police said in a news release.

Police said Marco is in town to do post superstorm Sandy tree trimming.

Employees of the Holiday Inn at 369 Old Country Rd. found a bag containing the guns, police said. Third Precinct officers who responded at 8:39 a.m. investigated and determined the guns belonged to Marco, police said.

"The defendant was taken into custody and no injuries were reported," police said.

Marco was charged with two counts second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
