Cops: Hunt on for 2 men in robbery of Freeport man

Police are searching for two men they said robbed and punched a Freeport man walking to his car Saturday morning.

Police said a 59-year-old man was walking to his car parked on Weberfield Avenue when he was approached by two male suspects about 8:50 a.m. The first suspect punched the victim in the face, and the second suspect punched the victim several more times, causing him to fall to the ground, police said. The suspects took a wallet with a credit card and cash and headed north on foot on Weberfield Avenue, police said.

The first suspect is described as 5-foot-9, 170 pounds and wearing a green jacket, black hat and a black ski mask, police said. The second suspect was described as 5-foot-9 and wearing a black hat and a black mask.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries to his face, police said.

Police said no weapons were displayed.
