A woman distracted a robbery victim before her two accomplices beat him and took his wallet in Freeport on Friday night, police said.

Nassau County detectives said the 32-year-old victim was walking on Washburn Avenue near Main Street when the woman approached and started talking to him.

Police said that moments later one of the men pointed a handgun at him and knocked him to the ground, where the second man began hitting him in the head.

They used a box cutter to cut the victim's wallet from his pants before running east on Washburn Ave., police said.

Police did not know how much money the wallet held.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The woman is described as 5-foot-8 and about 100 pounds, with her hair in a ponytail and wearing a pink T-shirt.

Detectives ask that anyone with information about the robbery call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Callers need not identify themselves.
