An Amityville man who threw cocaine from his pockets as he was running from police was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Massapequa, Nassau County police said.

Carl Anthony Henry, 22, fled on foot when police asked him for identification after they saw him looking into a parked vehicle on Pittsburgh Avenue and Park Lane, police said. As Henry ran, police said, he threw "unknown property" and "a white powdery substance determined to be cocaine from his sweatshirt pocket."

During a search, the officers found three stolen credit cards in Henry's possession, police said. He was arrested at 2:45 p.m. and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal possession of stolen property.

He was to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
