Cops: Man with gun arrested while driving stolen car

A Roosevelt man armed with a 9-mm handgun was found driving a stolen car Tuesday in Uniondale, Nassau County police said.

Jason D. Jackson, 32, of 36 Prospect St., is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property after police stopped him driving a gray 2012 Range Rover near Prospect and Elizabeth streets about 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Detectives conducting an investigation in the area saw the Range Rover, with Connecticut license plates, parked away from the curb and then saw Jackson get into the vehicle and drive away, police said.

Jackson was stopped and arrested on Nassau Road by detectives from the Narcotics Vice Bureau and First Precinct police. Police said they found the handgun in the waistband of Jackson's pants.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
