A Massapequa Park man threatened to use a bomb early Monday if a pharmacist at a Bethpage drugstore didn't give him prescription painkillers, Nassau County police said.

Justin Roach, 21, of 356 E. Lake Ave., is charged with first-degree robbery after handing the pharmacist at the Walgreens at 4120 Hempstead Tpke. a note demanding the painkillers and threatening to use a bomb, police said.

After entering the store at about 4 a.m. and giving the pharmacist the note, Roach then jumped the counter and took multiple boxes of prescription medicine, police said.

He then ran out the back door to Hempstead Turnpike, where he was caught by two store employees and held for police.

Police said there were no injuries and four employees were at the store at the time of the robbery. All pills taken by Roach were recovered, police said..

Roach later was taken to the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and is being treated for an unrelated health condition, police said.

Roach will be arraigned at a later date at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
