A Merrick man was arrested on Friday on menacing charges after he pointed a gun at a woman, then sent her threatening texts and drove by her house, Nassau County police said.

Steven R. Small, 50, of 3206 S. Hewlett Ave., pointed a silver .380-caliber handgun at a 36-year-old woman during an argument on Feb. 28, police said.

While the victim left the scene unharmed, police said, Small then began to threaten her in text messages and drove by her home several times between March 28 and Friday, April 12.

Small was arrested in front of his home. Inside police said they found .380-caliber rounds. He was charged with second-degree menacing, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree stalking.

He was arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead. Court records indicate he was ordered held on $25,000 bond or $12,500 cash bail. He is due back in court on Tuesday, April 16.
