Cops: Officers witnessed pair commit robbery

Two men who robbed a man on a street in Roosevelt early Monday were arrested moments later by two plainclothes officers who witnessed the entire incident, police said.

The robbery took place on Nassau Road at 1:33 a.m.

Nassau County police said the two officers, assigned to the First Precinct, witnessed the robbery -- and arrested Jose Holguin, 28, of 22 Union St., Freeport, and David Hodges, 17, of 611 Hill St., Uniondale, moments later.

Those arrests were made on Henry Street, police said.

Police said the pair had approached the 38-year-old victim, then pushed him to the ground, stealing his phone.

The victim was uninjured.

Police said both men were charged with second-degree robbery and are scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
