Cops probe potentially related street robberies

Nassau County police said Tuesday four robberies in which the suspects took cellphones and cash from their victims are believed to be related.

The Robbery Squad said the four -- two in Hicksville, the others in Bethpage and Plainview -- occurred between Friday and Saturday, starting at about 11:25 p.m., and in each a handgun "was displayed by one or more subjects."

In the first robbery, in the 300 block of Hicksville Road in Bethpage, two suspects took a cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash from another man, 24.

More than an hour later, at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, on Forest Drive and Orchard Drive in Plainview, three suspects took a cellphone and an undetermined amount of cash from another man, 41.

At 1:15 a.m., near the intersection of James Street and Newbridge Road in Hicksville, two men took the cellphones and backpacks of two female victims, 22 and 25.

Then at 1:20 a.m., two suspects took the backpacks and cellphones of two men, ages 30 and 27, on Strong Street in Hicksville.

No injuries were reported.
