Cops probe Uniondale bicycle robbery

Nassau County police are seeking information on a robbery Sunday night in Uniondale in which a 16-year-old male was struck in the head and his BMX bicycle was stolen.

The teen was riding his bike at 8:15 p.m. in the rear parking lot at 971 Nassau Rd., when he was approached by a male, described as thin, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, in his mid-to-late teens and wearing a hooded black sweatshirt, police said.

The suspect struck the 16-year-old in the head with an unknown object and fled north on the bike on Nassau Road, police said. The victim was treated and released from a hospital.
