Detectives are looking for a man who police said robbed a Roosevelt laundry early Friday and attacked the attendant with a hammer.

The suspect entered Roosevelt K Laundromat, 455 Nassau Rd., at 3:30 a.m. and used a hammer "to smash the glass of two quarter operated machines" and removed an undetermined amount of money, Nassau County police said in a news release.

A 24-year-old male attendant approached the suspect, who "struck the victim in the left elbow with the hammer," police said. "The victim sustained substantial pain and swelling to the elbow."

No one else was in the laundry at the time of the attack, police said. The suspect fled west on Clinton Avenue, police said.
