Police are investigating a bias incident they say took place in Cedarhurst early Tuesday morning.

Nassau police responded to a report of a swastika had been spray painted on a white fence at a Center Street residence. The letters ACABKTP were spray painted alongside the swastika, police said. They said the incident happened between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Nassau police officials said on Sunday that they would increase patrols at synagogues, churches and other places of worship because of that day's deadly shootings at two Jewish centers in Kansas. And last week, Nassau police announced plans to bolster security at local places of worship for the Passover and Easter holidays.

Passover, which started Monday evening, is the Jewish festival that commemorates the Israelites' Biblical exodus from slavery.
