A Roosevelt teenager was arrested in Maryland and charged in the shooting death of a 19-year-old in Freeport last month, police said Friday.

Raye Ahmed, 19, of 21 Bainbridge St., is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Shaqueil Reese of Freeport on Sept. 29, Nassau police said.

Ahmed, arrested in Baltimore last week, was brought back to Nassau County Friday on an extradition warrant, police said.

Reese was at a gathering near the Freeport Yacht Club, 533 Guy Lombardo Ave., early in the morning when there was a confrontation, police said, and Freeport police responded to a call of shots fired. Reese was found outside the club, and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead about an hour after the shooting, police said.

No information was released by detectives concerning a possible motive for the shooting, or what led them to Ahmed.
