Cops: Teen robbed of cellphone in Oceanside

A teenager was robbed at gunpoint as he rode his bicycle on Wednesday night in Oceanside, Nassau County police said.

Police said the victim, 15, was on Oceanside Road near Bennett Street at about 8:05 p.m. when a man approached him asking to borrow the teen's cellphone.

The man then showed the teen a gun in his waistband before reaching into the teen's pocket and taking the phone, police said.

The man, described as 6 feet tall, then got into a gray Nissan Sentra with yellow New York plates and drove off, police said.

The teen was not injured.
