Cops: Teen robbed on street in Lakeview

Police are searching for a man with a silver handgun they said robbed a teenager walking along a street in Lakeview on Wednesday evening.

The robbery occurred at 9:45 p.m. on Coolidge Avenue, Nassau County police said.

The teen, identified as an 18-year-old, was not injured.

Police said the robber was about 5-foot-7 and was wearing a blue hooded shirt. He displayed the gun and demanded the victim's "property," police said. Police said the teen handed over his cellphone and a wallet containing cash.

The suspect then entered a dark-colored 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML 350 -- and fled on Woodfield Road, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
