Two Mineola teens were arrested in Massapequa on Saturday after one of them allegedly hit two men on their heads with a hammer following an argument, Nassau County police said.
Nicolas Russi, 19, and Santiago Orrego, 18, were riding in a 1999 Audi shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday when they got out at a traffic light near Louden Street and Sunrise Highway to confront two men who had stepped out of a 2005 Cadillac, police said.
Orrego allegedly struck one of the men, 28, in the right side of his head with a hammer, police said. Orrego then struck the second man, 20, twice in the back of his head after the man tried to tackle him, police said.
Orrego and Russi fled in the Audi, but surrendered a short time later at the Third Precinct, police said. Both men were charged with two counts of assault and were scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
Neither man could immediately be reached for comment Saturday.
The two victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital and treated for cuts to their heads, police said.
