Cops: Teens tried to rob Valley Stream man

Three teenagers are accused of trying to rob a man in Valley Stream late Thursday, Nassau County police said.

The three teens, ages 17, 16 and 15, were on their bicycles when they approached a 50-year-old man walking on Flower Road near Cameron Lane at about 10 p.m., Fourth Squad detectives said.

One of the teens, Emmanuel Laporte, 16, of 110 N. Waldinger St., Valley Stream, demanded the man give up his property, police said. Another teen, Devon Williams, 17, of 27 Remsen Ave., Valley Stream, chased the victim, who ran to a residence on Cameron Avenue, asking for help.

The teens rode off on their bikes, police said.

After a search by Fourth Precinct officers, the three boys were found in the parking lot of the Green Acres Mall and identified by the victim, police said. Each was arrested without incident, police said.

Williams and Laporte face charges of second-degree attempted robbery and are scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

The third teen also is charged with second-degree attempted robbery and was released to his mother. He will appear in Family Court on June 24, police said.
