Nassau County police are looking for three men who attacked two other men with baseball bats, a knife and a machete early Sunday in New Cassel.

Third Squad detectives said the two victims, 22 and 21, were returning to a residence on Roman Avenue at about 3:10 a.m. when they were attacked by three unknown males.

Two of the assailants had baseball bats and another had a knife and a machete, police said.

The first two suspects chased the 22-year-old victim in the front yard, striking him in the arms and the back of the head, police said.

The third suspect, armed with the knife and machete, attacked the 21-year-old in the rear yard, fracturing his vertebrae, stabbing him in his back and severely lacerating his hand, between his thumb and index finger, and his right forearm.

The three suspects then ran off in an unknown direction.

The 21-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital; the 22-year-old refused medical attention, police said. The 21-year-old victim's status was not immediately known.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
