According to detectives, a store manager noticed an unusual number of returns being done by Sabin.

The police department's Crimes Against Property Squad along with Fourth Squad detectives conducted an investigation, which revealed that beginning in October 2013 to this February, Sabin would process a return, giving the customer credit for the item. He would then also place the credit on a gift card, which he would use for his personal benefit, police said.

The store lost more than $23,000. Sabin was arrested at the store at 77 Green Acres Road in Valley Stream on Monday at 11:50 a.m.

Sabin will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
