Cops: Westbury bank robbed by man with gun

A Westbury bank was robbed Friday afternoon by a man carrying a gun and claiming to have a bomb, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The robber entered the Bank of America at 248 Post Ave. at 1:45 p.m., flashed a black handgun and threatened to detonate a bomb if he didn't get money. The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash and the robber fled onto Post Avenue.

Ten employees and five customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery; there were no reported injuries.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. Calls are anonymous.
