Nassau County police charged a Massapequa woman with driving while ability impaired after she rammed the back of a sport utility vehicle that was stopped in traffic on Sunrise Highway, causing it to hit other cars.
The 68-year-old driver of the SUV was taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition. Three other people in two other vehicles were taken to hospitals, where they were treated and released, police said.
Bradley was also taken to NUMC, where authorities said they discovered she was in possession of the prescription drug butalbital, a barbiturate.
In addition to DWAI, Bradley was charged with aggravated vehicular assault, first- and second-degree vehicular assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
An arraignment date has not been set, police said.
