Woman punched, robbed by cabdriver, say cops

A woman was punched in the face while her cabdriver tried to steal her pocketbook in East Meadow on Monday, police said.

Nassau County police said the woman got out of the J train at Jamaica Station and got into a livery cab for a ride back to Long Island at 6:50 a.m. The suspect drove the victim to Park Avenue and Waverly Park, where he pulled to the side of the road and demanded her money.

He then punched the woman in the face and attempted to take her pocketbook. During the struggle, the woman fell from the car, causing minor injuries to her leg, shoulder and back, as well as a loose tooth. The suspect fled westbound on Park Avenue in a silver compact SUV without any proceeds.
