A Rockville Centre woman, drunk and with her 2-year-old son the backseat, drove erratically through the parking lot of an Oceanside supermarket on Friday, Nassau police said.
Corina Rusu, 36, of Olive Court, is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 16 in the car, a violation of the state's Leandra's Law. Rusu is also charged with DWI.
Nassau police said a witness observed Rusu driving erratically to the Stop & Shop on Atlantic Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Friday and called 911.
Officers responding the scene found Rusu and her 2-year-old son inside the store. She was stopped and arrested as she exited the supermarket after showing signs of intoxication, police said.
Rusu was taken to Nassau police headquarters in Mineola for additional testing while the child was picked up from the scene by his father. No injuries were reported.
Rusu will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
