Woman hit on parkway ramp in Valley Stream critical; hit-run driver sought

State Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and critically injured a pedestrian on a Southern State Parkway exit ramp late Wednesday in Valley Stream.

Police identified the victim as Danalee Daley, 28, of Valley Stream, and said she was discovered on the ramp at Exit 13, Central Avenue, at 11:45 p.m. after troopers were alerted by a call from the Nassau County police 911 dispatcher.

Police said the accident was reported as an injured pedestrian. It was not immediately clear where Daley was found on the ramp, but homes are immediately adjacent to the parkway exit, police said.

Daley was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with head trauma and was in critical condition Thursday, police said.

Police did not release any information regarding the kind of vehicle believed to be involved in the crash, but are asking any witnesses to call investigators at 631-756-3300. All calls will be kept confidential. The investigation is continuing.
