Funeral services are planned this week for the teenager who was shot and killed on a Hempstead street, his family said Saturday.
A viewing for Dante James Quinones-Wright, 17, of Hempstead, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 96 N. Centre Ave., Rockville Centre, the family said.
The funeral service, or "homegoing celebration," will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
The teen's grandmother, Lenora Quinones, the church administrator at Shiloh Baptist, said burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale.
Quinones-Wright was fatally shot shortly before 10 p.m. on Sept. 11 on Dartmouth Street, according to Nassau police.
The victim's family said he was shot three times and died later that night at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola.
Police Saturday night said no arrests had been made. Additional details about the shooting were not released.
Chrissie Quinones has said her son told her recently that he feared someone was trying to kill him.
She said she struggled to keep her son, who last attended Malverne High School in 2012, out of trouble, but he hung out with a bad crowd. She suspects the shooting may be related to a dispute he had with a friend.
Lenora Quinones said family members plan to distribute Crime Stoppers fliers in Hempstead, Uniondale and Baldwin, asking for witnesses to come forward to help solve the case.
"We want to show the streets that we are not afraid," she said. "We trust in the Lord, and He is our protector in a time of trouble."
"Hopefully," she said, "this will encourage whomever may know who actually pulled the trigger to come forward."
