Dashawn Wade arrested in fatal shooting of Daquan Gaskin, cops say

A Far Rockaway man was arrested Thursday morning in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Baldwin, Nassau police said.

Dashawn Wade, 22, was captured at 6 a.m. in Hempstead with the help of federal marshals, police said.

Police said he shot two men at 3:41 a.m. on Aug. 2 in front of the Love Jones Cafe on Grand Avenue in Baldwin. Daquan Gaskin, 22, of Baltimore, was shot in the chest and died, police said. The other victim, 39, was shot in the leg and was treated at a hospital, police said.

Wade is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a charge of second-degree murder at First District Court in Hempstead.

Police did not release other details.
